Returning from location shoots in Los Angeles, Palo Alto, Livermore
and San Diego, California (San Antonio, Texas too), Brent is closing in
on a wrap for the initial production phase of the documentary titled,
Always/Never. One more week-long trip is scheduled for
Washington, D.C. in December to gather interviews and some limited
b-roll. Brent has been working as Director of
Photography and shooting in Sony's HDCAM format for the 2-hour
documentary.
Brent has also been busy working on a second draft of his spec
script, "Twin Paradox".

Brent's 1st draft of his debut feature film screenplay, Twin
Paradox, has made the second round at the Austin Film Festival
screenplay competition. Over 4,000 screenplays were submitted this
year and the second round is comprised of just below 15% of those
entries.
In other news, the United Blood Services videos Brent directed for
Nomad Productions are now completed and Brent is leaving for another
documentary shoot this week in Nevada.

Brent has been extremely busy lately. Several projects
are in various stages of development and production.
Among these, Brent began work on a large scale documentary for Sandia
National Labs and last month started shooting in various locations
across the nation. Next week he will be shooting in Washington
D.C. and then back to Albuquerque to finish the United Blood Services
production by the end of the month. Stay tuned for
updates. New video postings are coming soon as well.

Congratulations to director/producer Aracely Chapa and her
documentary, "Fresco" for winning the Tricentennial Award for
Best New Mexico Filmmaker at the "Sin
Fronteras" Film Festival. It was a pleasure for
Brent to work as a graphic artist and animator on the documentary.

The year started off with two new awards for video
production. A Communicator
Award's "Crystal Award of Excellence" was won
for the humorous "Crack-o-dile Hunter" safety video
Brent produced for Sandia National Labs. |

More awards: Brent
Peterson has won five new 2005 Aurora awards for his productions at
Sandia. Three of the awards were the Aurora Platinum
Best of Show, and two were Aurora Gold Awards. Just
Peachy happened to be one of the Best of Show winners.

Awards
Winners may be awarded a "Platinum Best of Show" or a
"Gold Award". The Best of show is the highest honor given.
Only about one in ten receive this honor, while about two out of ten
receive the Gold Award. |

Production has just wrapped on the New York Film Academy student
short film, "The Little Blue Egg," written and directed
by Josh Beck. Brent served as Director of Photography
on the 4-day shoot.

| Just Peachy has
just won a prestigious 2005
Videographer Award, "Award of Excellence" in the
Video Productions/Movie category of the competition.
Additionally, an Off the Clock
episode titled "Sandia Caveman" won the same
award in the Video Productions/Documentary category.
In the Government/Training category, "Foreign Visits and
Assignments, You're on the Air" also came away with an
"Award of Excellence". Only 14 percent of
this year's 2,293 national and international entries were given
the "Award of Excellence." |

In addition, an "Award of Distinction" was given to the
production "Amy's Bad Day" and an "Honorable
Mention" was given to another "Off the Clock"
episode ("Skier").
All the above programs were produced by Brent Peterson for Sandia
National Laboratories.

Stills are now up from the New Mexico Addy
Awards production. Brent worked as the Director of
Photography on the project. The video was shot with the

"The Line" has been selected for
screening at the 2005 Harry M. Warner Festival of Short Film and Video.
The festival will be taking place on the campus of Slippery Rock
University in Slippery Rock, PA on April 21, 2005 and in New Castle, PA
on April 22, 2005.

March 15, 2005 Production
has just wrapped on the Awards Presentation video for the New Mexico Addy
Awards (New Mexico
Advertising Federation Awards). Brent served as the director
of photography, bringing a 1950's film noir look to the
production. The video was produced and directed by Coby Dax
at Comcast Spotlight Productions. Stay
tuned to this site for stills from the
production. Some will be posted in the coming weeks
after the awards show on March 26th..

4th London International Festival of Science Fiction and Fantastic Film

The short film "Death
Awaits" has been accepted and will be screening at the Sci-Fi
London Film Festival. Sci-Fi-London is the UK’s only film
festival dedicated to the science fiction and fantasy genres and takes
place during the last week in January.

The MarCom
Creative Awards 2004 competition has given it's
prestigious Platinum Award to the corporate short film, "Just
Peachy", written, produced and directed by Brent
Peterson. The production, "Working
Together", also produced by Brent Peterson, has received a
Gold Award from MarCom. Both productions were
made for Sandia National Laboratories. |
The MarCom
Creative Awards is an international awards competition that
recognizes outstanding achievement by marketing and communications
practitioners. This year there were 3,344 entries
worldwide. Out of those entries only 15% won the Platinum Award
and 16% won the Gold Award.

The 10th Annual Alibi Short Film Fiesta has
officially selected "The Line"
as one of 10 films to be screened in the category of narrative
film. The selection was made from more than 100
films and videos sent in. "The
Line" will be screening specifically on Saturday October 16th
at 3, 6, and 9pm at the historic Lobo Theater in Albuquerque, NM.

The short film, "The
Line", is nearing completion. But last week Brent
Peterson and Coby Dax of You Oughta Be in Pixels took time out to
produce a music video for the A
Perfect Circle "Blue" competition. For
more information see the APC
website. It was a whirlwind of a production - the whole
video was shot in 7 hours and then posted in only 3 late late nights
work in order to meet the deadline for the contest. Despite
the lack of time and the extensive visual effects involved, the
production came off well. You can see a portion of the video
on the commercials page of this site.

finalized. Work will commence on the CG closing shot
immediately.

has begun and is about half-way done. Work on the CG
ending shot will begin thereafter. Composer,
Richard McCann has also signed onto the project and is starting
work on an original score.

The
"Off the
Clock" series has received a Finalist Award at the New York festivals,
46th Annual International Film/Video festival. The
series is produced by Brent Peterson for Sandia National
Laboratories.

A rough-cut of the
short film, "The Merchandise"
has just been completed. Pick-ups will be scheduled soon and Foley
work will begin. We are currently looking for a
composer to produce a score. If interested and have previous
experience and sample work, please e-mail Brent
Peterson.
Post-production on "The
Line" also continues. Photo realistic CG work for the
open of the film is nearly complete and will begin a
"marathon" 30+ day render soon. Too bad
we don't have access to Pixar's render farm. Work on the
closing shot - also a CG extension will begin immediately
afterwards.

Merchandise" finished principal photography just in time for
Thanksgiving. Post-production has already begun.
Effects work on "The
Line" also continues and is progressing well.

Pre-production is officially underway now for a short film
adaptation of Edgar Allan Poe's short story, The Cask of
Amontillado. "The
Merchandise" is scheduled to be shot in late
November. The film will be produced through 9-Point
Productions.

just finished production of the short film, "The
Line", directed by Brent Peterson. Post-production will commence shortly. From there the
film will be submitted to film festivals.
